Slaying your Hair on a Budget

If you haven't figured it out already, I love all things beauty & hair related. I'm a reformed product junkie, but the love is still there. I appreciate a nice beat and laid edges, but sometimes I'm not down with the prices. Over the years, I've become much more aware of where my money is going and beauty products have taken a back seat.

This past week, I decided to purchase the Neesha wig by Outre. This is what most would call a "beauty supply store" (BSS) brand, meaning it is a lesser quality brand of hair and a fraction of the price that you would pay for virgin hair extensions and the like. I'll admit, after years of buying higher end brands, I was kind of hesitant to go back to BSS brands. However, after seeing this wig on my sister, I decided to give it a try.

I tried this hair for two reasons:

1. I really didn't feel like putting in a sew in. My hair is crazy thick, and the time that it takes to wash, dry, and braid my hair down, sew the weave in, and style it is a full working day. No thanks!

2. I really didn't feel like paying upwards of $250 to purchase new hair, as I need to replace my latest weave purchased 2 years ago. Not only that, but I know my husband wasn't down for it either. ☺

As a result, I narrowed my hair choices down to a wig that cost me under $50.

Now, before you think I'm a hair snob for not wanting to buy BSS, let it be known that this is where I started. Shortly after doing the big chop on my hair, I went straight into wigs and weaves from my local BSS. So, I certainly don't knock anyone who uses BSS brands. After all, it's affordable and ultimately get the job done.

However, as I became more educated on hair & weave, I realized that I was putting money into products (weave) that weren''t lasting very long and did not match my natural texture. Ultimately, I began to make investments in hair that mimics my hair type and would last me for years.

I'll admit that I am impressed with this Neesha wig. It has proven that BSS hair has come a long way from when I first purchased it. This wig is a lace front and it can be flat ironed. More importantly, it looks natural. That's enough to make me buy it...along with the fact that the name is Neesha ☺.

Though I may eventually go back to higher end hair, this will work just fine. In fact, I'm already plotting my next summer hair purchase! Check out my unboxing, styling, and review video below for more details on the wig!
