By now, the reader should have a strong understanding of the benefits of wisdom. The chapters continue with the urge for the reader to accept wisdom and turn from simple ways, while great emphasis is put on staying away from adultery and immoral women. In fact, the topic of adultery is given just as much attention as the benefits of wisdoms. As a woman reading these chapters, I received it as a lesson to not become an immoral woman as opposed to avoiding one.
As the book continues to promote the benefits of wisdom, there was one verse in particular that I thought was very powerful. That verse is Proverbs 8: 35:
"For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord..."
This verse stands out to me because it is the same language used in a latter book of Proverbs. That particular verse indicates that a man who finds a wife obtains favor from the Lord. This leads me to believe that there is a strong connection between wisdom and the expectations of a wife.
Another verse of importance is Proverbs 4:23. This verse talks about the importance of guarding the heart, because out of it flows the issues of life. We protect the heart by regulating what goes in to our ear and eye gates. I talk in depth about this in my book, They That Wait.
Overall, when reading these chapters, you should conclude with a better understanding of the benefits of gaining wisdom, keeping out of the way of wicked men, and avoiding the path of seductive women and the trap of adultery.
